Born in Dallas, Texas, Juan Pablo Chavez began his musical studies as a violinist and quickly developed a passion for learning and teaching classical music. He was accepted into the Dallas performing arts high school for both tuba and violin performance, and it was during this time that he was given the opportunity to study with amazing classical, jazz, and Latin musicians. Juan began to focus on improvisational music, particularly in Afro-Cuban styles. He learned the basics of Afro-Cuban music and its application to the violin. Wanting to increase his knowledge of contemporary styles, Juan traveled to Boston to attend Berklee College of Music. There he studied and performed with numerous contemporary masters and continued his education as an Afro-Cuban violinist. Juan is currently working on his first solo album, Salsa for Strings, and is also writing a book on contemporary Afro-Cuban violin. website Juan P. Chavez - violin
